What is Lacrosse?
Lacrosse is a team sport played by two teams with 10 players on the field at the same time.
Each team has a goalie that protects his goal from the opposing team shooting a hard rubberized
ball into the net behind him. Every player on the field carries a pole with a net attached to the
end that they use to pass, catch, scoop, and shoot the ball into the opposing teams goal scoring a
single point for every goal.

How long is a lacrosse game?
A lacrosse game is made up of 4 quarters each lasting 15 minutes. There is a 10 minute halftime
with 5 minutes between each quarter.

Why do some guys carry longer poles than others?
In the game of lacrosse there are specialized positions. Each position requires different skills
and different types of play. A player playing in the attack or midfield position carries a short
pole/stick between 40 to 42 inches in length. The shorter stick allows for easier maneuverability
to play an offensive role. There are also defensive players that carry a larger stick ranging from
52 to 72 inches in length which gives them a better reach keeping an offensive player at bay.

Can I play even if I have never played before?
OF COURSE!! We welcome everyone that has an interest and desire to play. We always take the time
to develop the skills of every player no matter what level of skill they are at. All we ask is that
you are willing to give it your best and as long as you don’t give up on us we won’t give up on you.

Do I have to tryout for the team?
We do not have “official” tryouts for our team. The coaches do however try to point each player in the
direction they think will best utilize the players’ abilities. All we ask is that once you join the team
you make the serious commitment to do your best to be at all team functions.

What do I need to get started playing?
If you are thinking about playing and would like to come out to one of our practices we always have a
few extra sticks around that you can learn with until you are able to get your own equipment. The most
important pieces of equipment that a player needs are a helmet, pair of gloves, and a stick. There is
a large selection of equipment and we suggest that if you have any questions on what to get that you
contact one of the coaches and they are more than willing to help out.

Who does Trinity play?
There are a lot of high school teams in our area that we compete against but we do sometimes play
teams in Austin and even sometimes Louisiana. Trinity lacrosse is a member of the Texas High School
Lacrosse League (www.thsll.com) in which we compete in the North/ East Division II bracket.

Does the team travel?
We do travel. We usually have one to two tournaments a year that we travel to in which we stay
overnight in hotels. These are usually the trips that the parents avoid because not a lot of
sleeping happens when you are spending a weekend with 25 high school boys in a hotel. We do
have a lot of fun though.

How many games does Trinity play?
We try to schedule anywhere from 10 to 15 games a year with a few scrimmages throughout the fall
and spring.

I don’t go to Trinity can I still play?
Yes you can. We are always open to new high school players.
We welcome those in home school as well.

When is and how long is the lacrosse season?
Lacrosse is known as a spring sport running from January to April. We have an off season in the fall
season which we do still play but most of these games are either tournament games or scrimmages.
With lacrosse growing so much in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area there are several summer leagues that
players are able to play in as well.

I have more questions who can I ask to get answers?
Ask us! We have the answers and if we don’t we will do our best to get them for you.
Go to your contacts page and send us an email and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
